UK Company Makes Massive Breakthrough in Personal Fitness Technology

Ionic Balance are the creators and sole manufacturers of the Ionic Balance Band. The company started from very humble beginnings, with inventor and entrepeneur Calum Liptrot investing his life savings into the research and development of his product and at first it was based in his home.

The Inverness based marked leader in personal Ionic Technology has invested in a unique extreme training facility; the FORGE GYM.  The investment funds will facilitate massive expansion of the gym area and will integrate the new Ionic Balance Head Office into the building. After some very positive negotiations between GR Motosport and Ionic Balance Linxcel Racing, a new alliance has been formed to combine the best aspects of both teams.

Rider Hudson Kennaugh will return to the Aprilia RSV4 in this factory backed team. The former South African Superbike Champion’s results on the Aprilia speak for themselves having been on the Italian machine when he secured 2nd place in the 2010 BSB Evo Championship.

The bike was tested by Kennaugh on a track day at Oulton Park last week and was very close to the pace after doing just 4 sessions on worn tyres.

The first outing for the new venture will be at the next BSB meeting at Oulton Park on the 6,7,8 July 2012.

The next Top Gear Live show is in Durban, South Africa on the 16 and 17th of June 2012. Clarkson, May and Hammond will be joined by an array of stars and cars and well as the man they call “The Stig.”

Of special interest is the attendance of the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team. One of the highlights of the weekend exhibition will be a race between the F1 “Silver Arrow” and a 1000cc Superbike around the street track. Negotiations have been underway with Yahama and Kawasaki to source the correct bike to give the rider a fighting chance in this unique race. Yamaha suggested the fully race prepped R1 that Colin Edwards rode last year but Kawasaki came up with the goods in the form of the ZX10R - the IBL Racing weapon of choice. So which rider would be up to the task? Organiser Clayton Francois contacted Calum Liptrot of Ionic Balance Linxcel Racing who manages rider Hudson Kennaugh to extend the invitation. Hudson has a unique tie to South Africa, being a previous South African Superbike Champion. Sadly due to visa issues Hudson would not be able to attend. After some discussion Calum persuaded Clayton to open up the invitation to other riders worldwide with IBL Racing covering the airfare.

Our newest and most exciting band in our new MK2 range is our Signature Band. We are a Scottish based company and we believe in supporting other local businesses employing local people wherever possible.
So when it came to designing our new wristband we looked to the Highlands and found our star in Jamie McMahon. Jamie (22) is from Thurso and had just graduated after studying Product Design at The University of Dundee. We wanted something that was unlike anything out there but was still functional and that would hold our brand standards - it was not an easy task. After 6 months of collaboration with our R&D team, we now have the most exciting ionic health band on the market today.

Jamie who is also a product designer and developer for Spaceright Europe based in Glasgow said:

“My inspiration came from me wanting to create a band which had an organically flowing design, which stood out from other bands in the market. Something which would look like it was a fashion accessory, but was robust enough to be used on a daily basis.”

We launched our new Signature Band on Friday the 24th of February 2012 and the uptake has been massive. It is such a rewarding accomplishment to take a locally engineered product and launch it globally with thousands of wearers around the world!

Eden Court Theatre in Inverness is to host the Highlands first ever professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) contest on the 21st of July. The event will feature some of the UK's top professional fighters as well a selection of up and coming fighters including local talents from Inverness' own Fusion MMA club.

The main event will be an epic "Scotland Vs England" clash when Scotland's number 1 Welterweight Steven Ray faces off against veteran professional fighter Stu Barrs of Pure MMA, Cannock.


Stu has competed in MMA for 12 years and has 7 wins and 7 losses as a pro, he has ranked as high as 19 in the UK, and holds a black belt in judo.
 Steven is on a massive winning streak, rocketing through the rankings in a seemingly unstoppable rise to the top of his division in Scotland at just 22 years of age. 
This will be an amazing fight, a hugely experienced veteran taking on one of the new breed of UK MMA stars.

In addition to the 8 fight C class under card there will be instructional seminars for martial artists throughout the day from as Dr. Rosi Sexton, UFC's Paul Taylor and James Watling and trade stands / expo from 12 noon.

Rosi is Black belt in Tae Kwon Do, Black belt in TJF Jiu Jitsu, Purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and was Cage Warriors Women's 132 lbs Champion and BodogFight Women's 125 lbs Champion. 
She is the number 7 ranked pound for pound fighter in the world, and also holds a first class degree in mathematics from Cambridge and a PhD in theoretical computer science as well as being a qualified osteopath and sports therapist.

Ultimate Fighting Championship signed fighter Paul "Relentless" Taylor has won fight of the night honours at 3 UFC events, and fought in UFC on 9 occasions. He holds an 11-6-1 MMA record overall with 6 of his wins coming by TKO.

James is one of Britains top full contact kickboxers, having been British professional full contact champion 3 times. Currently the world ranked number 1 light cruiserweight pro contender James will deliver a master class in striking with both the hands and feet.
